Important information about using Bookabuoy's services

Welcome to Bookabuoy providing boaties:

  • Easy Access to Moorings: A wide range of available moorings across New Zealand.
  • Convenient Booking: Secure, online reservations with immediate payment processing.

Warranty Requirements

In order to use the Bookabuoy online service you must warrant the following:
  • The information you provide on vessel length, draft, and beam is accurate.
  • You warrant that your vessel is covered by current and valid insurance that includes third-party liability, damage to your vessel, and specifically extends to mooring activities. This coverage must encompass potential damage to mooring infrastructure, other vessels, and any related liabilities. You agree to provide proof of such insurance, including a copy of the insurance certificate, within seven (7) days of a request by Bookabuoy. In the event that your insurance is invalid, insufficient, or otherwise unable to cover such liabilities, you acknowledge and accept personal responsibility for any costs, damages, or claims arising from your use of the mooring.
  • You have the knowledge and skills to safely secure your vessel to the type of mooring rented.
  • You will adhere to any specific instructions or requirements relating to the use of any mooring specified in the mooring description.

Booking Moorings

Owners list their moorings as either; available or by request.

Available

The dates on the mooring calendar will be green (unless booked, in which case they will be gray). You can select dates required, a check will be made on mooring size, you complete the booking information, and you will be directed to the payment page. Once your payment has been successfully processed, you will receive immediate confirmation of your booking via email.

By Request

The dates on the mooring calendar will be blue. You can select dates required, a check will be made on mooring size, you complete the booking information, and you will get a pending reservation email. The mooring owner will receive a copy of the requested booking and has up to 48 hours to confirm and accept the booking. If they do not confirm within this timeframe, the booking will be cancelled, and you will receive notification. If the owner confirms, you will be advised by email and may choose to proceed or not to proceed with the booking.

Cancellation Policy

  • You may only cancel confirmed bookings up to 48 hours prior to the commencement of the booking. You must cancel using your Bookabuoy account. You will receive a refund back to the credit card provided for the booking, less a 10% cancellation fee. Refunds will be processed on the 20th of the month following cancellation.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the booking commencement are non-refundable.

Liability

Bookabuoy complies with and adheres to a comprehensive safety operation plan in accordance with Harbour Master instructions, Maritime New Zealand (MNZ), and local council requirements. We require mooring owners to certify that their moorings meet all required certification and inspections. We take all practical steps to provide you with a secure and safe mooring.
However, the use of the mooring is at your personal risk, and the very nature of boating with berthing and mooring carries associated risks. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to assume all risks from renting and using the mooring and release from liability and hold blameless Bookabuoy (including its representatives, employees, associates, agents, and any known affiliates) from any liability whatsoever in connection with any matter relating to your rental which may give rise to damage or loss of property, personal accident, injury, death, or loss of any nature.
Indemnity: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bookabuoy, its representatives, employees, associates, agents, and affiliates, as well as the mooring owner, from any and all claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees on a solicitor/client basis) arising out of or in connection with your use of the mooring, including but not limited to any damage to the mooring, other vessels, or property, or any personal injury or death, regardless of whether such damage, injury, or death is caused by your negligence or otherwise.
